Town Maintenance Shop 20 Years in the Making
To celebrate the completion of its new Town Maintenance Shop, the Town of Nederland will be hosting an open house and BBQ on Friday, Feb. 24 from 1:00-3:00 PM.
Tours will be given and refreshments provided. Those interested are invited to attend at 294 Ridge Road, behind the Boulder County transfer station and road & bridge shops.
The facility was completed in early January 2017, transferring the headquarters for Public Works, including roads and other maintenance to the Ridge Road location, the land for which the Town began assembling in 1998. The site replaces the old facility at 750 W. 5th Street, which will now be deconstructed and cleared to make way for workforce housing.
The new facility is about 5,000 square feet and features energy efficiency systems, including solar electricity and geothermal heating.
The project was built by Castle Rock-based MW GOLDEN CONSTRUCTORS, in partnership with engineers JVA Inc. of Boulder, and Denver-area firms BWG Architects, DMA Engineering, and Corey Electrical. Construction kicked off in late spring 2016.
The $2 million project was supported by grants from the Energy/Mineral Impact Assistance Fund administered by the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, as well as Town funds saved over many years for this purpose.
