Impact of Cloth and Wipes on Wastewater Treatment Plants
With the recent outbreak of Corona Virus, Wastewater plants around the country are facing a greater issue of clogs due to trash in the system. The biggest culprits are cloth and wipes. Cloth, sanitizer wipes, baby wipes, and personal hygiene wipes should never be flushed down the toilet. These and other trash clog the pumps and screens of local wastewater treatment plants and create more work and maintenance for the workers. In some cases they can damage equipment and create a need for costly repairs and emergency staff call outs during the night.
Please protect Nederland’s infrastructure and avoid putting trash in our system.
