Notice of Public Hearing – Biosolids Handling Project Nederland, CO

Topic: Town of Nederland Biosolids Handling Project

A public hearing will be conducted for the purpose of informing citizens and soliciting public input, written or oral, regarding the Town of Nederland Biosolids Handling Project. The project consists of adding solids handling capabilities to the existing wastewater treatment facility (WWTF). The public hearing will focus on the Project Needs Assessment (PNA) for the Biosolids Handling Project. The PNA is a report evaluating the potential alternatives, existing system information, and details on the selected alternative. This includes adding an aerobic digester for solids stabilization and a screw press for mechanical dewatering. The PNA was submitted to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) to qualify the Town of Nederland Biosolids Handling Project for a State Revolving Fund (SRF) Loan.

The opinion of probable cost for the solids handling addition is estimated at $2,000,000 as submitted in the PNA.

Copies of the PNA are available for public review prior to the Public Hearing at Town Hall, 45 West 1st St, Nederland, CO 80466. The report will also be available for public review on the City’s website: http://nederlandco.org/category/news/.

Excel Energy Scam

The Nederland Police Department would like to warn all local business about an ongoing Excel energy scam. Local business’ have been contacted and notified that they are delinquent on their utility bill. The suspects convince the business owner that they need to pay upwards of $1000 and provide them with details on how to make the payment. Excel Energy is aware of this scam. If  you are contacted by the suspects, refuse to pay and report this contact to Excel Energy (800-895-4999) and/or the Nederland Police Department (303-258-3250).

Animal Control – Effective Immediately

Effective immediately, the Nederland Police Department (NPD) will no longer seize and/or impound lost and/or loose domestic animals (e.g.: dogs, cats, etc…), Section 7-101 or take receipt of a lost and/or loose domestic animals from within the Town limits.

Beginning April 1, 2017, the Town of Nederland, Nederland Police Department no longer has a local kennel service to house lost and/or loose domestic animals. In the event a lost and/or loose domestic animal is brought to the attention of the NPD, the reporting party will be directed to transport the animal to the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, 2323 55th Street, Boulder, Co. 80301 (303) 442-4030.

This directive is subject to change and does not affect the investigation and handling of:

  • Section 7-95: Animals running at large; restraint and control
  • Section 7-96: All pet animals restrained
  • Section 7-97: Vicious animals

No Parking on Sidewalks

The Nederland Police Department wishes to remind this weekend’s visitors that it is a violation of Nederland Town Code (MTC) to park a motor vehicle on any of the Town’s sidewalks. This is in violation of MTC 1204 and may result in a $75.00 fine. Due to the new cutting edge street and sidewalk design along 2nd Street and East Street, the driving public will need to pay particular attention to these newly designed and constructed sidewalks.
