Nederland Planning Process (NPP)
On Tuesday, March 20, 2012, with passage of Resolution 2012-12, the Nederland Board of Trustees approved the “Nederland Planning Process (NPP).” The NPP is an innovative approach to involving local residents, business owners, and community members in the public policy-making process and consideration of public projects (the NPP cannot be applied to private projects). By using the NPP, the Nederland Board of Trustees will have a means of gauging public concerns and enthusiasm for various new policies or projects. The NPP was initially conceived of by Paul Turnburke, Executive Director of the Nederland Downtown Development Authority, and then built upon by Mayor Joe Gierlach and Town Administrator Alisha Reis.
Resolution 2012-12, with further explanation of the NPP, is attached below. Questions about the NPP can be directed to the Mayor or Town Administrator.

The NPP goes much further in engaging the public than most municipal review processes, and Nederland is proud to be a leader in government transparency and community involvement.
