FINAL UPDATE: Water Outage – King Pl & Brown St

Utilities Dept. expects to have service restored around 6-6:30 pm tonight.  We appreciate your patience and understanding.

As always, when service is interrupted: if you experience discolored water, flush the line with COLD WATER ONLY.  This discoloration is not a health hazard, but could stain porcelain or laundry.  Run your cold water until it runs clear before using it for laundry or using hot water.

Please be advised that if you are without water in this area, that an unexpected main line repair is in the works.  The Utilities Dept. is on scene and hopes to complete the repair as soon as possible.

National Drug Take Back Day – Saturday, April 28th

On 04/28/18 you may bring to the Nederland Police Department (20 Lakeview Dr.) any prescription drug you would like to dispose of in a safe manner.

In addition to this day, the PD has a steel box where they will accept drugs, any day from any person. It’s a good way to dispose of old vitamins, cold medications, inhalers, etc.  Please direct any questions to NPD at 303-258-3250.

Please be aware that the PD cannot accept needles.  If you would like to dispose of used/new needles, please contact Nederland Fire Station at 303-258-9161 (650 W. 4th St.)

FINAL UPDATE – Upper Navajo Trl & Ute Wy Water Repair

Please be advised that the water leak has been repaired.

As always, when water service is interrupted, repair work can stir up sediment within the distribution system.  If discolored water occurs, it is not a health hazard.  However, it can possibly create staining on porcelain and laundry.  If there is discoloration, run your COLD water only for several minutes until it runs clear; do this before doing laundry or using hot water.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during any service interruptions.

UPDATE – Upper Navajo Trl & Ute Way Water Service

Water interruption to Upper Navajo & Ute has been restored.  If you experience discolored water, please know that it is not a health hazard, however it could cause staining on porcelain or laundry.  If you have discolored water, run COLD water for several minutes until it runs clear; do this before doing laundry or using hot water.

The leak has been located, however the repair will resume Wednesday March 28th, when a special order part arrives.  We do not believe water service will be interrupted tomorrow.

Possible Water Outage in Upper Navajo Trl & Ute Way

Last Thursday, 03/22, a small number of homes were posted that their water service may be interrupted as our Water Dept. continues to narrow in on locating a leak servicing the Upper Navajo Trl and Ute Way area.  If your water is off, it is likely you are one of those homes.

Even if work continues on subsequent days, the plan is to restore service for the evening/overnight hours.  Subsequent updates may be found here and/or by calling 303-258-3088 for a recorded update; messages may also be left at that number.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but appreciate your cooperation and understanding while this repair is made.

Old Town Water Pressure

Please be advised that the Utilities Dept. will need to perform hydrant flushing and pressure testing in the Old Town area on Monday, July 10th.  This may cause decreased water pressure in your homes.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Hydrant Flushing in Big Springs Neighborhood

For Week of May 9th:

The Utilities Department will be flushing fire hydrants throughout the summer to maintain water quality. Signs will be placed in the neighborhood prior to flushing. Prior to flushing, the Roads Department will be ensuring that ditches and culverts are clear to provide adequate drainage. They will then be grading after flushing is complete.

Fire hydrant flushing has the potential to stir up sediment within the distribution system. If discolored water occurs, it is not a health hazard. However, it can create staining on the porcelain and laundry. If there is discoloration to your water run your cold water for several minutes until it runs clear, do this before using it for laundry or using hot water.

Please contact the Utilities Department at 303-258-3088, or Town Hall at 303-258-3266 with any questions.
