POSTPONED Due to Freezing Temps: Area-specific Hydrant flushing in Big Springs – week of 4/14 – 4/18

by CynthiaB on April 10, 2014

The Nederland Utilities Department has had to postpone hydrant flushing due to cold weather this week.  We will reschedule as soon as possible.

The Utilities Department will be flushing hydrants in Big Springs the week of 4-14-14, during the hours of 7am – 3pm.  The hydrant schedule is as follows: Monday 4-14-Wildewood area, Tuesday 4-15-upper Alpine, Wednesday 4-16-Blue spruce and Pinecliff, Thursday 4-17-Peak and Valley View, Friday 4-18 Ponderosa and Barker.  The hydrant flushing is necessary to clear mains of any sediment, as well as to test hydrants to ensure fire protection.  The Water Department strives to provide the highest quality water possible.

We ask residents to not use water when flushing specific areas during this process to avoid introducing sediment into their service lines that we are trying to flush out. Particularly, water heaters, ice machines, and washing machines could be affected if used during this time. If sediment does happen to enter service lines, it may be necessary to run a tap for a short period of time until it clears.  There is no health hazard associated with discolored water.

Thank you for your patience,  we apologize for any inconvenience.  Please contact the Town Hall with any questions at (303) 258-3266.
