The Nederland Downtown Development Authority (DDA), under guidance from the Nederland Board of Trustees, will be undertaking a pedestrian pathway and drainage project on Second St., nicknamed “NedPeds.” This page will be dedicated to project updates, so visit frequently and stay abreast of developments in this project!
January 14, 2013 ~
The NedPeds project is moving forward and looking for your input. A set of criteria have been developed and we are asking for your help to rank them in the order you would like to see given the most importance for the project. The survey results will be sorted and used to inform design decisions for the project as it moves from Schematic Design to making the decisions around things like materials, design details, and overall project goals. The survey will be open until the end of Monday January 29th, you are encouraged to add your own criteria as well as any comments. The link is here, thank you for taking part in the civic conversation and design of your town and stay tuned for more updates as the design progresses. If you have any questions feel free to contact the survey designer Conor Merrigan.

The DDA has hired Conor Merrigan and Cliff Lind from C2Sustainability as the Project manager/sustainability consultant for the NedPeds project. They have scheduled a series of presentations to involve the citizens of Nederland in the beginning design for the multi-modal pathway connecting the Post Office to the Library.
These presentations will be given by Brian McLaren from Huitt-Zollars, Inc. Brian leads the design team, and has worked closely with the Town and the residents of 2nd St, the chosen route for the project.
The project now moves in the Nederland Public Process – NPP- required of all projects on public land within the Town of Nederland. The first meeting, releasing the schematic design, was Thursday, Nov. 15th before the Parks Recreation and Open Space, PROSAB board meeting. The following meetings are scheduled:
- November 28, 2012 – Planning Commission 7:00 in the multi-purpose room of the Community Center. The presentation will be at approximately 7:30 after the NDDA meeting held at 6:30 in the small conference room of the Community Center.
